My name is Lisa Chapman and I am the founder of Dogmestix. I have a First Class Honours degree in Applied Animal Behaviour, an FDSC in Canine Behaviour and Training and a certificate with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE). I am a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (01311), and a registered training instructor with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). I therefore must adhere to their high ethical standards and code of practice. I also regularly attend additional courses, workshops and seminars focussing on new research in the field, so you can be confident that my methods are up to date and ethical.

My primary work is as a behaviour officer for a large UK charity and I live with my own 2 rescue dogs. I currently offer limited appointments weekly for everything from house training your new dog or puppy, to behaviour problems such as aggression and separation issues.

I work with evidenced based practice that has been robustly measured by science. I do not use gadgets that claim to be 'quick fixes' for behaviour problems. These hard and fast methods can appear quite impressive sometimes for the behaviour in question, but frequently lead to much more serious issues because they suppress the problem, rather than address the route cause. As we know with humans, emotions have to come out somewhere else if not dealt with properly.  Evidenced based methods are kind, and ensure that dogs feel safe through the process, but are not always a 'quick fix'. Behaviour modification takes time and dedication and I believe there is no replacement for good training. I work to help you understand the way your dog communicates and help you address the underlying motivation for the behaviours shown. My training approach also focusses on problem prevention, helping you to equip your dog or puppy for life in an ever changing, fast paced human world!

I also have a diploma with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and recognise that we all learn differently. So don't worry if a clicker isn't your cup of tea, we will adapt training to your ability so that you enjoy it too!

I am fully insured and trained in canine (and human) first aid!
